Rabbi Benjamin Sersky, fifty-three, was found dead here at his home on Calle Heroe de Granaditas. the rabbi’s body was discovered when his wife, Mrs. Rena Sersky, returned home after an absence of over a week during which the rabbi was living alone in the performance of a religious rite.
When found, Rabbi Sersky had apparently been dead about five days. Authorities who examined him declared his death was caused by malnutrition probably induced by the period of fasting which the rabbi had entered. His death was a great shock to the Jewish colony here, where he had been widely known and beloved.
