Rabbi Samuel M. Silver, of Temple Sinai, Stamford, Conn., has been named vice-president and treasurer of the projected “temple of understanding” which is to be built here to seek amity among the world’s six great religions.
The Temple will be a non-profit ecumenical movement to provide education about Christianity, Buddhism, Confucianism, Hinduism, Judaism, and Islam. A site was formally dedicated this week with addresses by Sir. Muhammed Zafrulla Khan, judge of the International Court of Justice at the Hague and former president of the United Nations General Assembly; Dr. Ali Abdel Kader, director of Washington’s Islamic Institute; Rabbi Silver, and others, A fund-raising campaign is being initiated to finance the undertaking.
