For the first time, a foreign rabbi, Hungary’s Chief Rabbi Laszlo Salgo is expected to conduct the service in the Great Moscow Synagogue, this Saturday. Salgo and Imre Heber, chairman of the Hungarian Jewish community, are representing their community at an international conference of world religions, which began today in officially atheist Moscow.
Addressing over 400 delegates from 31 countries, Salgo, who was elected as chairman of the Jewish representatives at the conference, said: “In Hungary the Jews found a new home.”
