Rabbi Uri Miller of Terre Haute, Ind., was re-elected president of the Rabbinical Association of the Hebrew Theological College of Chicago at the close of the convention held here.
Rabbi J. Rosen of Oklahoma City, Okla., was elected vice-president of the association. Rabbi Louis Kaufman of Chicago Heights, Ill., was named secretary and Rabbi H. Shapiro of Hibbing, Minn., treasurer.
Philip L. Seman, general director of the Jewish People’s Institute of Chicago, addressed the convention on “The Rabbi’s Responsibility to Social Work in His Community.” Professor Meyer Waxman of the college spoke on “Jewish Mysticism in the Talmud and Midrash.” Resolutions were adopted by the association urging that state laws limit religious ceremonies only to ordained rabbis; pledging aid to the Jewish National Fund, and creation of a Halachic commitee to solve problems made by the advancement of science in the light of traditional law.
