Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein will represent the State of Israel at the funeral of American televangelist Jerry Falwell. The appointment of Eckstein, president of the Chicago-based International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, was announced Sunday, the Jerusalem Post reported. “I am honored to represent the State of Israel at the farewell to this great man and important figure,” Eckstein said, adding that Falwell was “a man that I was honored to call a personal friend. He will be deeply missed.” Falwell’s funeral is scheduled for Tuesday. He died last week at 73.
