Rabbi S. Gershon Levi, president of the Rabbinical Assembly, today issued a call to the Conservative rabbis who comprise its membership to initiate a full-scale effort in their congregations in behalf of the Israel Bond campaign. Rabbi Levi took this action in keeping with a resolution calling for maximum participation in the Israel Bond program which was unanimously adopted at the Assembly’s national convention held in Jerusalem last month. The resolution urged the Conservative rabbis to enlist the cooperation of their congregations in arranging special events dedicated to “mobilizing the maximum response of their members to the need to reinforce the economic foundations of Israel’s hopes for peace and freedom.” In calling upon the members of the Rabbinical Assembly to fulfill the purpose of the resolution, the president pointed out that those who attended the organization’s recent convention in Israel had an opportunity to see “how important a role Israel Bonds play in the growth and expansion of the country’s economy.” He asked every member of the Assembly to implement the resolution which called for increased support of the campaign for the sale of Israel Bonds this year to help achieve the 1971 quota of $400 million.
