The 53rd annual convention of the Rabbinical Assembly of America which represents 500 spiritual leaders affiliated with Conservative Judaism, opened here today with an address by Rabbi Ira Eisenstein, president, strongly criticizing the methods of Senator Joseph McCarthy.
Dr. Eisenstein also criticized the American Jewish. Committee and the British Anti-Defamation League for their withdrawal from the National Community Relations Advisory Council.
A proposal to establish a National Beth Den which would function as a court of domestic relations dealing with problems of marriage, the family and divorce, will be presented to the full membership of the Rabbinical Assembly during the four-day convention, This National Beth Din would represent the first major organized effort to consider the problem of increased tensions in present-day family life within the framework of Jewish tradition.
