The tradition of Jewish scholars of the Babylonian and Gaonic period to hold “Kallahs”, seasonal meetings for scholarly discourse, will be revived, according to a decision taken at the first convention of rabbis in the State of Texas, which concluded its two days’ session yesterday. During the sessions, papers on Jewish research subjects were presented. The delegates voted that, in accordance with the old tradition, their convention be called “Kallah” and that it become a permanent institution.
Rabbi Abraham Schechter, who called the conference, was chosen president; Rabbi David Lefkowitz of Dallas, vice-president, and Rabbi Samuel Rosinger of Beaumont, secretary.
