With reports that the failure of the economic and disarmament conferences to reach satisfactory conclusions caused reactions in public opinion and led to increasing competition, in preparation for war, the forty-fifth annual conference of American Rabbis opened its fourth day’s sessions today at the South Mountain Manor near here.
The conference adopted resolutions stating that, in view of the threatened rekindling of war and the war spirit all over the world, including possibly the United States, it be the firm will of the members of the conference to resist and to urge other groups to combat any rising tide of war spirit.
URGE SOCIAL JUSTICE
Among other resolutions which were adopted, as submitted by the international peace committee, headed by Rabbi Samuel N. Goldstein of New York, was one urging the promotion of social and economic justice at home, “both for our own sakes, so as to lessen the discontent which is so easily diverted into extravagant nationalism; to support fair trade policies for the other nations, for the improvement of world commerce
