Gen. Yitzhak Rabin, Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, said here yesterday that El Al “will continue to fly” despite any anti-Israel action that might be taken by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
His comment before an Israel Bond Organization dinner at which he was honored here came as the ICAO prepared to resume today its sessions called by Lebanon as a result of the Dec. 28 Israel reprisal raid against the Beirut Airport. Lebanon has demanded sanctions by the UN agency against Israel.
Gen. Rabin told the dinner, at which over $1.5 million in Bonds was subscribed, that so long as the Arab states do not accept direct negotiations, Israel will not move “one inch” from the occupied territories. He called French President de Gaulle’s recent embargo on military equipment and spare parts for Israel “an open invitation to aggression.” Samuel Bronfman presided at the dinner.
