Premier Yitzhak Rabin warned tonight that the world was returning to the “era of Munich.” He referred to the United Nations General Assembly’s 105-4 vote Monday to recognize the Palestine Liberation Organization and earlier recognition given the terrorist group by UNESCO and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal.
“The first Munich saw the world yielding to the power of Fascism and Nazism. Now it is yielding to the power of Arab oil,” Rabin told a meeting of the Labor Party Central Committee here.
The Premier declared that Israel would meet with the terrorists at only one place, “and that is on the battlefield.” He said the government has done, is doing and will continue to do its utmost to protect Israeli lives and property in Israel and abroad from terrorist acts. He said Israel would strike at terrorist bases wherever and whenever it considered it necessary.
