All forms of racial bigotry were condemned today at a semi-annual meeting of the National Catholic Welfare Conference. Bishops on the administrative board warned Christians to be on guard against racial prejudices. They voiced regret at the prevalence of propaganda in the interest of systems and theories antagonistic to the principles of democracy and the teachings of Christianity. They cited the opinion of the late Pope Pius XI that it was not possible for Christians to take part in anti-Semitism.
