Elias Levi, who has been chosen by the Jews of this city for training for the Rabbinate, will leave soon for New York where he will study at the Yeshiva College.
Levi was selected by J. E. Joshua, president of the Rangoon Zionist Society. Rabbi David Miller, of California, made the appointment to the College possible with the cooperation of Dr. Bernard Revel, principal of the American institution.
Levi was born in Baghdad November 4, 1910. He was educated at the Jewish School and the Baptist English High School. He is a founder and honorary secretary of the Rangoon Zionist Society. He has written many articles for the Anglo-Jewish magazines.
Iraq has already sent a young Jew to the Yeshiva College. Bombay is considering financing a rabbinical scholar.
