Recall of American Ambassador to Egypt Requested in Congress

The recall of Henry Byroade, the pro-Arab U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, was proposed this week-end by Rep. Frank Thompson, Jr., New Jersey Democrat. Speaking on the House floor, Congressman Thompson said Mr. Byroade was the author of the policy of persuading the British to evacuate the Suez Canal as the way to win Egyptian friendship.
