The efforts to finding a solution to the problem of organizing Jewish life in this country and abroad as embodied in the plans of Judge Horace Stern of Philadelphia, H. L. Lurie, director of the Bureau of Jewish Social Research and Rabbi Stephen S. Wise, advocate of the world Jewish congress plan were lauded at the closing session of the ninth Aleph Zedek Aleph convention here last night.
The convention adopted resolutions protesting against the Jews in various countries.
Discussing the situation in Spain, the Convention declared: “We as critics of all that befall our brethern voice our commendation and complete faith in the liberal actions of the new Spanish democracy for retracting the edict of 1492.”
The discussion of the Stern and Lurie plans was informal and no resolution on this subject was adopted. Each member however, was recommended to stimulate the discussion of these plans in his respective community.
