Denouncing recent attempts by Nazi sympathizers “to disrupt the unity of German-American elements here and elsewhere”, the German-American League of Essex County again unanimously reelected John C. Koerber, of this city and South Orange, as its president. Koerber was emphatic in denouncing the “bombing” with Nazi literature of a German Day celebration in Springfield last summer, and generally has frowned upon Hitlerite overtures to his people.
That Koerber’s attitude meets with the confidence of the League members was indicated by the fact that the by-laws were suspended in order to permit his election for another year. At the same time the members affirmed “the solidarity of the organization with Koerber in his stand against uncalled-for activities of Nazi propagandists.”
