The National Federation of Temple Youth, representing the youth in more than 500 Reform Temples in the United States, adopted yesterday a four-point program of educational and social action with the United Christian Youth Movement, the youth branch of the National Council of Churches.
The NFTY board also decided to explore the possibilities toward establishing a similar coordinated effort with the National Council of Catholic Youth. The NFTY represents 400 teenage branches in Reform congregations with over 18, 000 members.
The four-point program adopted by the board urges: 1. Continued exchange of fraternal delegates between NFTY and UCYM at national and regional camp retreats; 2. Development of combined group projects in the community; 3. Comparative Religion Study programs as an effort towards understanding each other’s religious faiths; 4 Exploration of common community social action problems of concern to teenagers.
