A call for the repeal or substantial revision of the Taft-Hartley Act to eliminate the “injustices” contained in the act was voiced here today in a Labor Day message issued by the Commission on Justice and Peace of the Central Conference of American Rabbis. The message also welcomed the extension of Social Security, urged increased employment of the aged and handicapped and favored the passage of Fair Employment Practices acts to secure the right to the opportunity for the employment of all.

The message pointed out that the CCAR, Reform rabbis group, has long maintained that collective bargaining and mediation are the keystones of industrial peace. It urged that the administration which takes office after the coming national elections should convene leaders of government, industry, labor, education, religion and social welfare agencies to consider problems arising out of the introduction of automation.
