Professor Max Jakob Askanazy, a Jewish refugee from Germany, has been made an honorary citizen of the Canton of Geneva and was granted naturalization for his important services in science and especially for the Geneva university.

Professor Askanazy was at one time a collaborator of the internationally known Professor Ehrlich in his scientific work. He comes from a German-Jewish family of East Prussia and is considered one of the world’s most renowned authorities on pathology.

The order of Honorary Citizen, conferred upon him by the Canton of Geneva, is considered one of the highest honors ever bestowed on a foreigner by the canton.
