A blockade runner named the Chaim Arlosorov, after the late Palestine Labor leader, was reported at midnight to be in British custoday 15 miles north of Tel Aviv. First reports said 1,350 refugees were aboard.
Neither military nor naval authorities would confirm the reports of the ship’s sapture, allegedly because the Navy hopes to divert the vessal to Cyprus, and avoid having to transship the passengers to deportation ships at Haifa. Private reports said that a naval boarding party was already aboard the Arlosorov.
