The refugee Jews of Europe face a new Spring offensive by the British against immigration to Palestine, a spokesman for the Jewish agency told a press conference here today.

“If you add Bevin’s letter to the London Times’ naval correspondent’s ##ticle describing so called illegal immigration as ‘naval gangsterism’ you will ?t a real picture,” the spokesman said. “Both seem to emanate from a bad conscience. ## ploiting the distress of the refugees and the Jewish nation is adding insult to ?jury, since all the world, including Palestine, is closed to them. And when they ?ke to even bad ships, its called a ‘slave traffic.'”

Warning that the only result of the government’s action and the various ##swspaper articles would be an increased flow of ships, the Agency official declared ##at “naturally it would be better if we could provide better ships, but those who have no other means necessarily use those at hand. The sooner Jewish immigration # legalized better. Otherwise such attacks do not help anybody.”The Arab newspaper Falastin reports today, without confirmation, that ##irst Lord of the Admiralty George Hall, who was formerly Colonial Minister, will ##rrive in Palestine shortly to discuss with local authorities means of checking further illegal immigration.
