The Federation of Jewish Settlers from Germany and Austria today concluded its conference in Kfar Shmaryahu by converting itself into a new “non-partisan political progressive party” which will be known under the name Alyah Chadasha (The New Settlers).
Members of the new party, it was stipulated, must belong to any of the groups affiliated with the World Zionist Organization. No Revisionists will be admitted to membership. The newly-formed party’s membership as it stands now is composed of refugee immigrants from Germany and Austria affiliated chiefly with the General Zionists, the Jewish Labor Party and the Hashomer Hatzair.
Resolutions adopted by the conference demand free Jewish immigration into Palestine “in accordance with Jewish needs,” urge an Arab-Jewish understanding, endorse the Zionist aspirations as expressed in the Basle Program, and emphasize the opposition of the conference to the White Paper which restricts Jewish immigration and land acquisition in Palestine. Dr. Felix Rosenblum was elected president of the new party.
