A large number of Hungarian Jews expelled from Yugoslavia arrived here today and were given immediate shelter by Jewish organizations. Many were placed in private Jewish houses.

Jewish organizations here, as well as individual Jews, are contributing large sums for organizing relief for the refugees. Contributions are made to the general funds, from which relief is granted the exiled victims, who also include, in addition to Hungarians, many Germans and Jews.

Jewish bankers and industrialists here figure prominently on the lists of contributions, which are collected all over the country.

In the early sixteenth century, Catherine Zelazowska, following the example of a daughter of Nicholas Radziwill, embraced Judaism and was burned at the stake at the age of eighty.
