Region No. 3 of the United Palestine Appeal, comprising New York State east of Rochester. held its first conference last Sunday in Albany with 500 delegates, representing over 50 communities. Dr. Chaim Weizmann and Mrs. Anna Moskowitz Kross. chairman of the department of Organization of the Hadassah, addressed the conference.
A mass meeting was held in the afternoon in the Harmanus Bieecker Hall and a dinner in Dr. Weinmann’s honor in the evening at the Ten Eyck Hotel. Judge Irving Lehman of the Court of Appeals was the toastmaster.
Judge Isadore Bookstein of this city was elected chairman of the United Palestine Appeal committee to represent the eastern district of New York State, which includes the state outside of New York City.
The Albany quota was set at $35,000 and the first payment, a check for $15,000 has been transmitted to Dr. Chaim Weizmann.
