The Central-Verein Zeitung, the official organ of the leading Jewish organization in Germany known as the Central Association of German Citizens of the Jewish Faith, was suspended today by the German authorities for a period of three months.
No reason was given for the action against the publication, which has been in existence for fourteen years and is considered today one of the leading organs of German Jewry.
The exclusion of Jews from the compulsory labor law which was proclaimed here yesterday was expected in Jewish circles, since the labor law is in its essence similar to the conscription law which excludes Jews from military service.
According to the full text of the compulsory labor law only “pure ‘non-Aryans'” are barred from the compulsory labor service. “Semi-Aryans,” however, are admitted under the provision that they will not be allowed to become superior officers in the labor service.
