The German consul in Havana today demanded that the Cuban government protect him from attempted assassination by Cuban Jews. He declared that he had been informed by reliable sources that an attempt to murder him would be made by a group of secret Jewish plotters.
Cuban authorities have posted a strong guard around the building housing the German consulate, and announced that they would take all necessary precautions.
El Pais, Cuban daily paper, commenting on the story, declared that such an attempt would be a natural act of revenge by the Jews against the Hitler government and expressed the belief that the reports were well founded.
