It was reported from Berlin today that Jews ousted from jobs are now forced to work in public projects without payment, except for the destitute, who receive a small sum, insufficient to buy enough food. Jewish circles here called the enforced work a form of slavery and compared the situation of the Jews to that of the biblical Hebrews in Egypt.
Jews are being forced to do demolition work and to clear areas for new buildings. Eight hundred are employed for demolition in the former municipal gas works in the Berlin district of Schmargendorf and others to prepare Nazi sports grounds and to lay out parks in greifwalderstrasse in north berlin.
