The new Italian decree compelling all Jews who have taken up residence in Italy since 1919 to leave the country within six months was acclaimed in the German press today as a “new step forward.” The Voelkischer Beobachter, which reflects the personal views of chancellor Adolf Hitler, found cause for rejoicing in the speed with which Mussolini embarked on Italy’s anti-Jewish policy.
