Unification of relief activities on behalf of immigrant Jews in France has been effected, largely through the efforts of Morris C. Troper, European director of the Joint Distribution Committee. A decision to work together to aid immigrants was taken by a meeting of representatives of various interested organizations, ranging from laborite to Chassidic groups, called by the Federation of Jewish Societies in France upon the urging of Mr. Troper.
The J.D.C., it was announced, has allotted a substantial monthly subvention for the united movement which will permit distribution of 1,000 meals daily and 1,200 family food parcels weekly in addition to various forms of assistance to more than 4,000 persons. The allotment will also be used for child care and medical aid exclusive of assistance to German refugees and child welfare which are handled by the OSE (Jewish health society), which receives its funds through the J.D.C.
