Religious and secular lawmakers in Israel reached a compromise on one divisive matter: daylight savings time. A bill submitted jointly by Knesset members from the fervently Orthodox Shas Party and the secular Shinui Party would have summer time start at the beginning of April and conclude at the end of September. The religious parties want to begin daylight savings time earlier in the year to allow morning prayers to be said during daylight hours.
