Premier David Ben Gurion today submitted to the Israel Cabinet his proposals for a re-shuffle of portfolios. Following a preliminary discussion, the proposals were handed over to the various parties represented in the coalition government for comment and action.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Jack Gering, a well-known South African Jew who has been living in Israel for the past 15 years, is in line for the post of Minister for Trade and Industry. Mr. Gering is the brother of Bernard Gering, chairman of the South African Zionist Federation.
The Parliamentary Finance Committee today approved the 1950-51 security budget. Finance Minister Eliezer Kaplan reported to the body on a proposed American loan for agriculture and one from France. The Committee approved a loan of 1,600,000 pounds ($4,500,000) to various agricultural interests.
