Bartley Crum, former member of the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry on Palestine, addressing the annual convention of the B’nai B’rith Women’s Supreme Council here last night, declared that the “renewal of hostilities in Israel is imminent.” Mr. Crum, who has just returned to the U.S. from his third postwar visit to the Jewish state, sharply criticized the position taken by Secretary of State Dean Acheson on Britain’s supplying arms to the Arab states.
It is no accident, Mr. Crum stated, that the American Ambassador to Israel, James G. McDonald, was not invited to the meeting of United States diplomats in the Near East now in progress in Cairo. “Ominous things are brewing,” he cautioned, adding that he heard rumors that former Nazi pilots have arrived in Egypt to fly newly-acquired Egyptian jet planes against Israel. Frank Goldman, president of B’nai B’rith, also addressed the convention, which will continue till Wednesday.
