The reorganization of Jewish democratic committees throughout Rumania culminated today in the election of a new central committee. The new board of 42 members excludes all Zionists and retains only two representatives of the former Rumanian Jewish Union.
In accord with the December resolution of the Rumanian Workers Party, about half the members of the new board are workers. Prominent among the newcomers are Barbu Lazareamu, 67-year-old member of the Rumanian Academy who is expected to be named president of the central committee, and Alfred Mendelsohn, well-known composer, who recently received a government music prize.
