A National Conference for Israel to plan the re-organization of the United Palestine Appeal and other Zionist fund-raising agencies on the American scene has been called by the United Palestine Appeal for November 3rd and 4th, at the Shoreham Hotel, Washington, D.C., it was announced here today by Rudolf G. Sonneborn, United Palestine Appeal national chairman.
Mr. Sonneborn, describing the parley as a “conference at the crossroads,” said the main items on the agenda would include; 1. The U.P.A. reorganization in accordance with decisions taken recently at the world Zionist Conference; 2. The question of distribution of U.P.A. funds and new procedures to be followed; 3. The pressing problem of the “danger and deadline” immigrants who must be resettled as quickly as possible; 4. The desperate food situation in Israel.
He stressed that decisions made at the conference will have a direct effect on the immediate future of Israel fund-raising and, at the same time, important implications for the structure of the American Jewish community.
