Rep, Jacob J. Javits of New York cabled Walter C. Dowling, Acting U.S. High Commissioner for Austria, vigorously protesting the pro-Nazi laws of the Austrian Government and requesting action to stop this trend.

“The actions of the Austrian Government and the Austrian Parliament respecting the issues of indemnification and restitution of properties of Nazi victims, as well as the treatment of former Nazis, give cause for grave concern,” Rep. Javits said in his cable.
