Morris Morgenstern, New York investment banker, presented last night a replica of George Washington’s letter to the Jewish community of Newport, Rhode Island, to the Abraham Goldstein Library at the ZOA House here.
One of the highlights of the presentation was a lecture by Prof. Israel Efros, President of Tel Aviv University, on the historic significance of the letter, which cites a verse from the prophet Micah as the basis of the outlook toward the Jewish minority of America’s first President.
