Widespread anti-Jewish excesses have occurred in Kishinev, according to reports in yesterday’s afternoon Vienna papers. Theological students are reported to have demolished a number of Jewish shops, destroyed property and thrashed a number of Jewish visitors in the Cafe Venezia. The anti-Semites them proceeded to stage a demonstration in the streets. While the police are said to have done their best to prevent the trouble from spreading and arrested a number of the students the Jewish population is panic-stricken.

Further reports in the Austrian papers say that a meeting of the Jewish council in Kishinev was called to consider measures of protection.
