Report Israel, Egypt Sign Air Accord

The first air transport agreement between Israel and Egypt was initialed today in Cairo, according to reports reaching here from the official Middle East News Agency (MENA). The reports said that under the agreement, El Al would initiate regular flights from Tel Aviv to Cairo on March 3 and the Egyptian privately operated Lotus Travel Company would begin flights to Tel Aviv on March 5. After that, each company will operate two flight a week. The agreement, part of the normalization between Egypt and Israel, was signed by Ehud Shilo, director general of Israel’s Transport Minister, and Maj. Gen. Yehia Shinawi, chairman of Egypt’s Civil Aviation Authority.
