Chancellor Kurt Georg Kiesinger, whose Christian Democratic Union will be out of the West German Government for the first time in 20 years as a result of last month’s national elections, is under investigation by the State Prosecutor for possible perjury. Chancellor Kiesinger testified at a war crimes trial last year that he was unaware that genocide was being committed against Jews during the Nazi era. The prosecutor reportedly may enlist the aid of the United States to obtain certain pertinent documents. It is not known whether Chancellor Kiesinger will enjoy diplomatic immunity in ex-officio status.
