The option for the lease of land in Transjordan granted by Emir Abdullah to a Jewish company and cancelled by him on Jan. 25th, may again become actual, the Arab press forecasts today.
The Arab papers report that Transjordan leaders are preparing impressive demonstrations to protest against action to prevent the Jews from leasing Transjordan territory.
The opening session of the Transjordan Parliament on Thursday will discuss the question of Emir Abdullah’s option to a Jewish company.
The most influential members of Parliament, it is learned, will utilize this opportunity to insist that the lease of land to Jews be authorized.
There are many rumors also to the effect that Emir Abdullah is contemplating widespread changes in the government officials and that those who are unfavorable to the admission of Jews to Transjordan will be eliminated.
In view of these reports, it is believed that the case now rests with the Mandatory government and its attitude toward the lease of land to the Jews.
The “Palestine Post” today describes the extent of the privation which exists in Transjordan. Bedouins, the paper says, are reduced to seeking food from refuse heaps.
