A Mexico City Jewish official, just back from a visit to Chile declared here that reports in the American and foreign press about anti-Semitism or a bad situation for Jews under the present government of Chile were very exaggerated. Sergio Nudelstejer said leaders of the Jewish community in Santiago stated that there was no anti-Semitism in Chile and that in general the situation was going to improve in all aspects.
Nudelstejer, representative of the American Jewish Committee in Mexico and Central America and secretary general of the Jewish Committee, also said that Chilean Jews had confidence in the policy of the new government and all Jewish institutions were functioning normally. Gil Sinay and Robert Levy, Santiago Jewish leaders, said rumors about anti-Semitism was only harming Jewish interests in Chile, Nudelstejer said.
