Revolt is spreading among the rank and file of Sir Oswald Mosley’s Blackshirts, the News Chronicle reports.

“The Bristol “insurrection,” exclusively reported in the News Chronicle, has been smouldering for months, and now the Paddington branch officer and other officials have sent in their resignations.

“A protest, addressed to Sir Oswald Mosley, is being circulated throughout the movement, and an inquiry is expected shortly that will shake the whole Blackshirt organization.

STATE OF SIEGE

“Mysterious instructions are alleged to have been issued to trades-people to stop supplies to the headquarters of eighty Bristol Fascist ‘rebels who are still occupying premises in Parkstreet, which were branch headquarters.

“The attempt to cut off supplies for the canteen is part of the state of siege in which the premises have been for days.

“A denial of a split in the Bristol ranks was issued from the national headquarters of the B. U. F. in Chelsea. Mr. A. V. Gough, formerly District Area Officer, and other officers were dumbfounded when told yesterday of the denial.

” ‘We absolutely and unconditionally stand by the statement of our revolt which appeared in the News Chronicle,’ said Mr. Gough. ‘The facts are incontrovertible.’ “
