Representatives of the Jewish community here called on the Egyptian Ministry of the Interior demanding that the government publish a denial of a falsehood carried in the local press from Palestinian sources. In that report it was alleged that Jerusalem Jews attacked the Egyptian Consul in Jerusalem when he was walking in the street.
The delegation also demanded a denial of other misrepresentations in the Egyptian press. The Ministry promised to take the necessary steps.
The Jewish community of Alexandria and the Zionist Federation there despatched cables of protest to Prime Minister MacDonald and to the League of Nations.
For reasons of local policy the Egyption Jews have abstained from holding public manifestations.
