Bills legislating against discrimination in employment were introduced in the House of Representatives in the last two days by Rep. Helen Gahagan Douglas, Cal. Democrat, and Reps William L. Dawson; Ill. Republican.

The bills are identical with that introduced into the Senate last week by Sen. Irving M. Ives, New York Republican, and sponsored by seven other senators. At that time, Ives said it is not an FEPC bill but a formula for “a new approach in handling the problem of discrimination in employment” through “education and conciliation” rather than legal compulsion.
