Leading spokesmen of the Republican and Democratic Parties will address the annual convention of the Zionist Organization of America which will open in Washington on October 4, it was announced here today. The convention will last four days.
The spokesmen of the two political parties will give expression to their positions on American policy in the Middle East in the light of the planks on this subject included in the platforms of the two parties. More than 1,200 delegates representing 600 districts from all over the country are expected to attend the convention, at which major issues facing the Zionist movement will be discussed.
The tentative agenda made public by the national ZOA headquarters indicates that the topics will range from organizational issues to discussions of fundamental problems dealing with ideology and program. In the forefront of the agenda looms the current political American scene relating to U. S. policy toward Israel and the Middle East.
One of the plenary sessions at the convention will be dedicated to the centenary of the late Justice Louis D. Brandeis. An address of tribute reviewing the life and works of Justice Brandeis will be rendered by Dr. Abraham Sachar, president of the Brande is University. The presidential address will be delivered by Mortimer May and the annual report covering all phases of ZOA activities will be presented by Dr. Sidney Marks, ZOA national secretary and executive director.
