Israel citizens will not be allowed to travel to Germany, according to a decision of the Ministry of Immigration made public here today. The decision stipulates that Israel passports will be valid for all countries with the exception of Germany.
An official announcement explained that the Israel Government is not interested in permitting residents of this country to proceed to Germany, unless it is for “imperative reasons.” Cases involving the liquidation of property may generally be handled through a transfer organization specially created for this purpose by the government, it was added.
The announcement noted that passports valid for Germany will be issued in “cases of public interest” as well as in cases where the individual wishes to return to Germany permanently. In the latter event, return visas for Israel will not be issued.
