Resolutions which were adopted at an all Canadian Amalgamated Clothing Workers conference here in substance ask for improved working conditions and may result in a general strike in the men’s clothing industry in Montreal and Hamilton.
Forty delegates representing fifteen local unions now in session have voted to press for the following demands: enforcement of a forty hour week, substitution of week work system instead of piece work system, unification of the industry, minimum wage laws, compensation for time lost, fifty percent additional pay for overtime and other improvements.
Speakers included Joseph Schlossberg, general secretary, who made a plea for unity among workers, and Controller Simpson.
