Zeef Sharef, the government’s revenue commissioner, said that publication of the list had not paid off in information of income tax evasion. Informers’ reports of evasion, he said, rarely held up under investigation, Mr. Sharef made his proposal at a press conference called in connection with issuance of the third annual list, for incomes reported in 1954-55. Publication cost the government 80,000 pounds this year.
