Rhode Island Opens Drive for $20,000

Ludwig Lewisohn, author and lecturer, and Louis Lipsky, a cochairman of the United Jewish Appeal, will launch a state-wide campaign for that cause in this city at a dinner at the Hotel Biltmore, presided over by Archibald Silverman, next Monday evening.

The campaign, which will be conducted simultaneously throughout Rhode Island, is for $20,000, of which this city has assumed a quota of $15,000.

Silverman, Zionist and communal leader, is chairman of Rhode Island’s campaign. Judge Jerome J. Hahn and Samuel Magid are honorary vice-chairmen; Charles Silverman, Benjamin N. Kane, Judge Philip C. Joslin, Bernard M. Goldowsky and Joseph Smith are vice-chairmen; Dr. Ilie Berger is treasurer, and Henry Burt and Mrs. M. W. Shohan are secretary and associate secretary, respectively.
