Simon H. Rifkind, former United States District Judge, today assumed the duties as chairman of the Administrative Committee of the American Jewish Committee, succeeding Herbert B. Ehrmann who is now a vice president.
Mr. Rifkind served in the American occupation zone of Germany in 1945 and 1946 as Advisor on Jewish Affairs to Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, Commanding General. He was named a Federal judge for the Southern District of New York by the late President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1941. In 1950 he resigned to resume the practice of law.
